It all began with gelato: Sammontana was the first in its sector to sign a voluntary agreement with the Ministry of the Environment in 2016 to offset the environmental footprint of Barattolino Sammontana.

 


Sustainability at our Heart


From gelato and Barattolino came the first LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) studies on greenhouse gas emissions from Sammontana products. These studies have become a company standard, yielding significant results and setting an ambitious goal: reducing net emissions by 55% by 2027 through recipe adjustments and improved packaging.

 

Sammontana’s focus on sustainability also led to pioneering circular packaging projects. Today, Barattolino packaging is made with FSC-certified paper, while the bio-circular plastic of the Sorbettiera line is ISCC Plus certified.

 

Sustainability even inspired the creation of Amando, which was designed with eco-design principles, paving the way for the company’s broader innovation journey.
