SUSTAINABILITY CERTIFICATIONS

  • Sammontana Italia offers its consumers products free from animal fat derivatives, certified by  Vegan OK, Vegetal OK, V-label, and Vegan DNV.

 

  • In our Sweet Pastry production facilities, we exclusively use flour certified as sustainable under the ISCCPLUS standard. This certification follows the Mass Balance approach: for every tonne of wheat flour used in production, Sammontana ensures an equivalent amount is cultivated in compliance with the standard’s sustainability requirements.
     
  • All palm oil used in our Sweet Pastry products is RSPO MB certified, the international benchmark standard ensuring palm oil comes from plantations managed according to environmental and social sustainability criteria.
     
  • Sammontana Italia uses sustainably sourced cocoa and coffee certified by RA (Rainforest Alliance), cas well as Fairtrade and CTM cocoa for selected proprietary and private label products. These certifications guarantee the social and living conditions of workers, as well as the sustainable practices in agriculture and the environment in the regions where the cocoa is grown.
     
  • The packaging of Sammontana’s iconic Barattolino is made with FSC-certified paper, sourced from responsibly managed forests.

 

  • Since 2022, all Sammontana Sorbettiere containers have been ISCCPLUS certified, ensuring sustainability in the plastic used.
     
  • Finally, Sammontana, as a Benefit Corporation, has conducted and certified an Organisation Carbon Footprint (CFO) study according to the international ISO 14064 standard. The CFO evaluates the total emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases (GHG) directly and indirectly generated by the organisation’s processes in conducting its business activities.
